Work by Kristen Dibbs
and
are two new works by Liz Welch that were in the Lady Of Shalott exhibition
at Lincoln Cathedral Chapter House in Britan during August. Nolitex,
the textile
group I belong to put on a lovely visual interpretation of this
beautiful
poem as part of the
centenary celebrations of Tennyson who had very strong
links with Lincoln. We had commissioned
a caligrapher to calligraph the
poem with many of the verses begining with illuminations,
and Nolitex
members had each chosen a verse,
line or theme from the poem to illustrate
in stitch. The setting of Lincoln Cathedral
was spectacular and the Chapter
House added a certain mystery and solemnity to the exhibition.
My piece
based on a shallott was the only irreverent
one, but the others were all so
varied and very beautiful. Click on each
picture for a larger view.
and back view
of vest by Peggy Frankovich. Peggy is a member
of a community club that each year throws a games luncheon
to raise money.
She made this vest for this fund raiser. Click
on each picture for a larger view.
Two ladies are sharing some of their free motion embroidery work
with us. Dale Rollerson
made a purse*
which incorporates painted fabric, tyvek, metal and couching. Dale
tells about her project (text file).
Liz Welch has done a
piece called Bramble Thicket* in which
she has used Friendly Plastic. She tells us a little about
this project (text file).

Kae Barron was inspired by
Liz Welch. Kae sent a picture of a hat she embellished
with stitching on metal
and her thoughts and how to about it. (txt
file)
Liz Welch sent a sample
of her stitching on metal. She shares some
tips ( txt file) on how to stitch on metal.
Are you asking yourself what kind of sewing machine would you use
to stitch on metal? Liz used a Pfaff 7550.
